The Minister for Finance Pascal Donoghue recently announced the deferral of the Valuation date for Local Property Tax from 1 November 2020 to 1 November 2021.

This decision means that homeowners will not be faced with increased Local Property Tax bills for 2021 and will no doubt be welcomed by all home owners in the current difficult economic circumstances.

Local Property Tax liability is currently assessed by reference to the valuation of the property as at 1 May 2013. The valuation date was due to be updated on several occasions but most recently on 1 November 2020 and this new measure has deferred the valuation date by a further year.
